Today

Today Antonio Villargosa was sworn in for another 4 years in office. How much farther down hill the quality of life will go in L.A. is any one's guess. Will life in the city be any better in 2013? Not likely. We have fallen so far from what Los Angeles used to be; a beautiful, vibrant city. An ugliness crept into our city over the years. Now people don't speak to each other. People drive angry. I won't go on and on. Anyone who's been here for at least 15 years knows what I am talking about. Our golden city has turned into a 3rd world, overcrowded dump. No, it is not a good day in this city's history. If only more people here cared enough to vote out corruption in March we would we have some real hope.

As far as our new city controller, it does not take a fortune teller to know she will be a huge disappointment. Fiscally responsible,,,she is not.

I only hope our new city attorney comes through for us. The mayor belongs behind bars.

And the best news today: I peeled off my old Kathleen Suzy Evans for Controller bumper sticker and replaced it with the new Kathleen Suzy Evans for California State Assembly bumper sticker!

Do Not Vote for Nancy Pearlman or Angela Reddock, they are part of Antonio Villarigosa's gang.

One month ago today we were attending the election night party at Du-Par's at the farmer's market. We enjoyed the party, some of us staying until the final results came in at about 1:30 in the morning. Unfortunately, none of us got the results we wanted and what the city of L.A. needed.

We will be keeping an eye out on Wendy Greuel as the new City Controller. I'm not cynical, but a realist. She will be more than just a disappointment as L.A. City Controller. Heck, as a city council woman for 6 years she could not come up with 3 legit examples of how she was fiscally responsible for her TV ad.

Brace yourselves. Another 4 years of Villargosa and Wendy Greuel...the city will only continue to dissinagrate.

The Final Final Election Results

Today the final result were released with all the provisional ballots finally counted.

I ended up with 47,758 votes with 18.52%. I kept my second place by beating Nick by 2.44% with his 41,464 votes.

Unfortunately, Wendy Greuel fooled a lot of people with her deceptive ads and mailers. So now we have the greater of 2 evils as the new L.A. City Controller.

But don't despair, I will be running again! I will announce in the next couple of months my decision on which office I will run for. I encourage you to support your favorite candidate or run for local or state office.

We were holding out some hope that Walter would pull off a run-off. But it just didn't happen.

Thank you again to Walter Moore for EVERYTHING!

Election Results and Thank you!

Thank you for supporting me in my race for Los Angeles City Controller!!

I did better than expected for my first major race. 2nd place with 18.55% of the vote, more than 40,000 people voted for me! And I beat Nick!!! Even though he had 20 times more campaign funds than I did! What a feat! That was a huge surprise for the media.

A big thank you to Walter Moore! Without him I would have missed this great experience. I met so many wonderful people. I enjoyed the forums, neighborhood council meetings all around Los Angeles.

I received some notice from the media, my name was on the ballot and it was seen by hundreds of thousands of people in L.A. And now that I have name recognition, I will run again, either for city council or a state office.

I will leave this blog open. Feel free to comment. Stay tuned. I will most likely open a new blog for my next race and link it up to this one.

Together we can save this city and state. It can and will be beautiful and safe again.

L.A. Times Article about Wendy Greuel

Excellent Article in the Los Angeles Times about the hypocrisy of Wendy Greuel:

Greuel attacks program she approved

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Wendy Greuel

Some of the many reasons why you should NOT vote for Wendy Greuel:

Voted Yes on the Trash Tax - Yes, your tax fees tripled because of her. With those funds we were to receive 1000 police officers. We did not. They have only hired about 360. Where's the rest of our police officers?

Prop S - This proposition added a 9 % tax rate on phone and internet services. City Council fooled people in L.A. into thinking that it was a tax decrease. It was not. And then they spent $5 million of our tax dollars to put it on the ballot. Wendy Greuel adopted the motion and voted yes to put this deceptive proposition on the ballot. FYI - If it was a tax decrease it does not have to be on a ballot for a vote. They can just decrease the tax. If its a tax increase it has to be on the ballot.

Voted Yes for a $3 million dollar exhibit at the L.A. Zoo to house 3 monkeys + $4500 for the Feng Shui consultant! How many of us have a $3 million home?

Prop B - She is a sponsor of Prop B. She's trying to hoodwink you into voting for it by repeating the word "green" over and over again. Be smarter than that. Prop B will just raise your DWP rates and give the DWP a monopoly on Solar energy. Hummm.... I wonder who's contributing to Wendy Greuel's campaign?

She is a close friend of Mayor Villaraigosa. This is bad, very bad for us. That means if Antonio stays in office there will be no checks and balances. And checks and balances is why the City Controller is an elected official.

Wendy Greuel is the vice chair of the budget committee. We have a $400 million deficit, even though we have record revenues coming into the city of $7 billion dollars a year. Where were the warnings from her about over spending? And why was she contributing to the wasteful spending?

Wendy Greuel would be a disaster in the City Controller's office. She is fiscally irresponsible and would be nothing like Laura Chick.

Vote for an experienced, common sense Controller who loves this city!

What does a Controller do?

I get asked this question often. In a nutshell:

In the case of the Los Angeles City Controller its as follows:

The Controller shall be the auditor and general accountant of the City and shall exercise a general supervision over the accounts of all offices, departments, boards and employees of the City charged in any manner with the receipt, collection or disbursement of the money of the City.

As a Controller in the corporate world you are in charge of everything financial for a company. You hold the purse strings of a company. You make sure the revenue that is due a company is coming in, and that expenses are paid out. You create reports such as profit and loss statements. You make recommendations to increase revenue and where possible cut back on expenses.

Prop B - Vote No

Please visit this website: NoPropB.com to see why you should vote No.
Proposition B is yet another scam on citizen of Los Angeles. Its supposed to be about Solar Energy but its really about raising your DWP bill by another 12%. I don't know about you but my DWP bill is already far too high.

We Need New Leadership!

I just got back from an interesting speaking engagements. I was given 5 minutes to speak, it ended up turning into 15 minutes and was followed by numerous questions.

I've been talking to so many people who are greatly saddened by what's happened to Los Angeles. I sat next to a couple at the Walt Disney Concert Hall a month ago. Without any prompting for me she said "Isn't it tragic what's happened to L.A."

I've lived here my whole life and the quality of life here has spun down quickly. And even more so in the last 4 years.

We need new leadership. My opponents Wendy Greuel and Nick Patsaouras are both cronies of the mayor, Villaraigosa. If you vote for either of them, the quality of your life will not get better. It will get worse. Imagine what this city will be like in 4 years with Villaraigosa and his cronies still in charge. A living nightmare!

I care about the quality of your life here in L.A. That's why I am running for Los Angeles City Controller.

If you want a better quality of life here, please vote in new leadership in Los Angeles on March 3rd. Please visit my website: EvansForController.com to find out more about me. And be sure to vote for Walter Moore for Mayor and David Berger for City Attorney.

Prop A - On March 3rd Los Angeles ballot

Here's the summary on Proposition A:

FIRE DEPARTMENT INDEPENDENT ASSESSOR
THE ISSUE:
Shall the Charter be amended to empower the Board of Fire Commissioners to appoint and
remove an Independent Assessor, exempt from Civil Service, who shall be responsible for
auditing, assessing and reviewing the Fire Department's handling of complaints against sworn
and civilian employees?

Go here to see why you should vote NO on Prop A.

Walter Moore wrote the opposing view on Prop A. Walter, David Berger and myself signed the opposing view.
