Happy New Year to all of you!
In 2009 we have an awesome opportunity to elect new leadership in Los Angeles. We, the citizens of L.A. can get a new mayor, city attorney, controller and about half of the city council seats.
And we won't have just any choice, it will be quality, honest, experienced and trustworthy choices.
Lets take back Los Angeles!
And now I am off to the Walt Disney Concert Hall to bring in the New Year!

David Berger's Blog
Take a look at David's blog. He's got some interesting information about Police Chief Braton's cut back of police on the west side of Los Angeles.

Mayor Villaraigosa
There's an excellent article on Walter Moore's site about Antonio's entourage. Funny how the mayor increased his staff by 23 people but the city does not have enough money for crossing guards.
And while you are at it, take a look at the article in the L.A. Weekly: The All-About-Me Mayor.
We need a new Mayor in Los Angeles: Walter Moore!

Candidates Confirmed
The candidates for Controller have been confirmed.
Its Wendy Greuel, Nick Patsaouras and Me... Kathleen Suzy Evans.
Sadly, a nice woman by the name of Sherree Saperstein did not get the required signatures to make it on the ballot.
So,,, I'm calling myself the rose between 2 thorns. :)

Nick Patsaouras
City Hall spent $600,000 of your tax dollars in March 2007
to give a non-recourse loan, with a term of 55 years and an
interest rate of just 3% to a company whose president was
on the DWP Commission, namely Nick Patsaouras and who
is now running to become Los Angeles City Controller.
Have you ever gotten a loan like this?
What's the city of Los Angeles doing giving anyone a loan like this?
This is just a small part of the self inflicted budget "crisis" we are in.
Do we want Nick to be holding the purse strings of the city?

Petitions!
All of us running for office in the Los Angeles March 3rd election have been scurrying around collecting signatures to qualify for the ballot.
We need 500 to qualify, but to be sure that we have enough "good ones" we have to get an excess amount. We can submit to the elections clerk up to 1000. We also have a short time to gather signatures. First day to gather is November 8th and they must be submitted by December 3rd.
I've gathered at least 650 as of today. I'll be receiving at least 3 more sheets tomorrow from people who volunteered to circulate petitions.
Then I'll be compiling them and running them down to the City Clerks Office Election Division. The people at the Elections office and Ethics Commission have been very helpful.
Stay tuned, will update you soon.

Election for Los Angeles City Controller
I'm Kathleen "Suzy" Evans and I am running for Los Angeles City Controller.
Why did I decide to run for office?
I'm a life long resident of Los Angeles. I saw what it once was... a beautiful, friendly city. If you've been here for very long you have seen what's happened to our wonderful city. It's tragic.
You don't need to move away from L.A. We just need better management. We need honest, common sense people who care about a quality of life for the citizens of L.A. That's where I come in.
I am an experienced Controller with more than 25 years in accounting and finance. I love this city and I want it to be a better place to live. My opponents in this race only care about their political career. Their records speak for themselves.
Please visit my website for more information about me.
